IO Interactive announced a new Hitman game after the completion of the James Bond project
IO Interactive CEO Hakan Abrak confirmed a continuation of the iconic Hitman series following the release of the spy action game 007: First Light. In an interview, he emphasized that the series remains the company's flagship, and that working on a James Bond title is an exception in the company's portfolio.

Abrak clarified that the next project in the Hitman universe will be a co-op mode, after which the studio will begin developing a full-fledged new main game in the franchise. This means that Hitman 3, re-released as Hitman World of Assassination, will not be the final chapter in the bald assassin's story.
The previously announced 007: First Light will be available on March 27, 2026, on all major platforms, including Switch 2.
